Shoes and Women: an unbreakable love for a long time!
History of Footwear
The birth of footwear dates back to ancient times and even today it is not possible to establish precisely when it was invented.
Initially made with perishable materials such as animal skins and wood, its primary function was to protect the feet. No historical evidence has reached us that documents the first "models".
Fashion related to footwear developed in the 16th century with the circulation of graphics that recalled the style of known populations.
This phenomenon consolidated during the nineteenth century thanks to the discovery of artefacts from the past and to research by sciences such as anthropology, psychology and sociology that study fashion.
In the twentieth century, shoes acquired a very important influence and position in fashion.
Evolution of Footwear Fashion
In the years preceding the First World War, the fashion for the "Louis" heel spread, which recalled the Rococo style developed in France in the 18th century.
After the Second World War, France established itself as a leader in the sector, thanks to Coco Chanel who transformed the concept of femininity and fashion design.
In Italy, Ferragamo created the cork wedge shoe and started the "Made in Italy" movement, contributing to the development of Italian fashion.
In the 60s, footwear became more linear with wider-based heels and rounded toes. In the 80s, "Made in Italy" became increasingly popular thanks to successful designers such as Gianni Versace, Giorgio Armani and Valentino.

Trendy Shoes
In the new millennium, globalization has brought new fashions that have overturned the previous history of footwear . Today, at Sabot Arezzo and on our online shop, you can find all the most sought-after and trendy shoes of the moment.
