Castañer Shoes - Women's Collection
Castañer shoes are symbols of style and craftsmanship.
The first Castañer workshop was founded in 1927 and transformed a popular shoe into a high fashion product.
The turning point came in the 1970s, when the collaboration with Yves Saint Laurent led to the creation of the first wedge espadrille.
This model quickly became a "must" of summer collections, loved by influencers and style icons from all over the world.
Castañer World - Where Magic Takes Shape
Castañer 's atelier is a place where time seems to have stopped, keeping almost century-old artisan techniques alive.
The production of espadrilles begins with the selection of the best jute in India and Bangladesh, followed by a dyeing process that prepares the material for the creation of the soles.
These are then woven on historic machines, invented almost a century ago, which still represent the beating heart of the atelier today.
Castañer Espadrilla - the Creation of an Icon
Each Castañer espadrille tells a story of authenticity and dedication.
The iconic shape is revealed through a manufacturing process that uses a wheel-shaped table, acting as a mold for the jute braid.
This method, together with the manual sewing that still characterizes many models today, shows how tradition can meet innovation without losing the original essence.
Vulcanization, a process that seamlessly fuses the woven sole and rubber, ensures maximum quality and durability.
Details like the heel counter, made with linen and cotton yarns on old looms from the 1900s, add a touch of class that makes each pair of Castañer unique.

After more than 90 years, Castañer continues to be a living testimony to how passion and craftsmanship can transcend time.
